Welcome to DR. STU'S BLOG. Along with my podcast at www.drstuspodcast.com it is here that I post my thoughts on a variety of topics on the birthing world. Advocacy for true informed consent and respect for individual autonomy are the basis for the musings you will read here. I hope you enjoy while you learn and I encourage you to comment. Please check out www.birthinginstincts.com for information on home birthing with an obstetrician and my latest news and updates.
As a childbirth educator, doula, mother of 5 including 3 born at home, and an advocate for women; I first became aware of you when you wrote that letter in support of homebirth. I am saddened to see what you are going through here.
Unfortunately a certified nurse midwife in my community--a community where barely 2% of births are attended by CNM's--has gone through a fight similar to yours, and she lost her hospital priviledges in May. We were unable to get significant media attention--I believe because the hospital system involved spends a lot of money on advertising in the local newspaper.
Please know that my prayers are with you. I wish I could offer financial support, but at this time, all of my extra money (and some that isn't extra--LOL!) needs to go towards the advocacy group I'm a part of here- www.facebook.com/empoweredbirth.pa
We are aware this is a nationwide problem. So many small voices get drowned out.Hopefully, the word will filter out and we can all grow stronger and louder through bonding together via the internet. Thank you for you thoughts.
